How TikTok Could be a Surprise Medicine for Weight Loss

Trends of Obesity

According to World Obesity Federation’s 2023 atlas, 51% of the world or more than four billion people will be obese or overweight by 2035. 14% of Ugandans or more than five million Ugandans will be obese or overweight by 2035.

Computers Reducing Physical Activities

The widespread use of computers, smartphones, and other electronic devices has resulted in a notable decrease in physical activity among youth. Gen Z is becoming more likely to be obese as they spend more time on screens and less time engaging in physical activities.

Technology is playing a part in creating a culture that is becoming less and less interested in physical activity. Because of this, Gen Z finds it challenging to combat obesity, which is regrettably linked to a host of health concerns like diabetes, heart disease, some forms of cancer, and mental health disorders.

It is therefore, fundamentally important for you among other interventions, to limit screen time and other sit time to prevent an inactive lifestyle. Regularly engage in physical activity.

TikTok & Physical Activities

One item that is said to have contributed significantly to TikTok’s fame is its dancing. Music and dancing continue to be the most popular content types on the network, despite the abundance of other content types including jokes, memes, and even more serious content. Influencers choreograph dances to the newest tunes, which are frequently imitated by people worldwide.

In addition to dance, TikTok has other physically engaging content to create such as pranks and fitness/sports.

Whenever you meet a Gen Z (young person) recording a dance, choreograph, a prank, or any physical drills; you can almost be certain the person is a TikToker.

As a result, TikTokers may be able to combine their love of technology with the physical tasks required in content creation to maintain a healthy weight.
